3 reasons why air-fryer cooking is obsessively good

Buying an air-fryer was one of the best decisions I made in 2020. I did take my sweet time contemplating about buying one, before I actually did. Mostly because I thought why bother when I already have the oven to get the job done. But several months later, I now use the air-fryer several times a week and it’s my new ‘bestie’ in the kitchen. I almost can’t imagine how I got by without one. Here’s the top 3 reasons why you’ll get obsessed with air-fryer cooking too.

An air-fryer

Air-fryer cooking really is the healthy way to go because you use very little to no oil – it literally cooks with air! I don’t use more than a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil or canola spray – compare that to deep frying! Does no oil mean the french fries (or chips as us Aussies call it) won’t be golden?! Don’t fret, air-fryer cooking only cuts out the fat. You’ll still have your fries/ chips glistening golden brown. Same goes for sausage rolls (even without the egg-wash) or chicken nuggets. What’s more, air-fried food has the same great taste and texture, as their deep fried or baked cousins.

French Fries/Chips, Onion Rings, and Fried Chicken

Who has the time to spend ages cooking? As a mom who works full time, I sure don’t. Which is why I’m constantly looking for ways to spend less time in the kitchen. Air-fryer cooking is great because it is quick – much quicker than a conventional oven. This means you can ditch the conventional oven for most everyday meals. I only end up using it now for baking cakes and large dishes like lasagne or pizza. The air-fryer saves you time because you don’t need to pre-heat, and with the heat is concentrated within a smaller space, food cooks faster. That’s why it’s a great way to re-heat leftovers or pre-cooked food too. It only takes a few seconds in the air-fryer and you won’t get any of the soggy mess that the microwave sometimes serves, e.g. with pizza or sausage rolls.

The other thing that takes the fun out of cooking is the cleaning (unless you like it, then good on you!). Air-fryer cooking is a winner there too because only the pan inside it is involved. While cooking, you can simply simply shake the air-fryer pan to mix food (or use tongs). Saving you any spills or splats on the cooker or oven, or extra pots and pans to clean up.

The other biggest hesitance I had for buying an air-fryer was the cost-factor. You’ll find that the premium brands and models of air-fryers can cost up to A$700 (US$500) or more. That said, you don’t need the most expensive of them all to get the job done. Shop smart and you’ll be sure to find one that fits your budget – maybe at your local Kmart (if you’ve got one) or a used one on Facebook Marketplace. Either way, the air-fryer is likely to cost you a lot less than a conventional electric oven – both budget and space wise. The other good thing with air-fryer cooking is that because food cooks a lot faster, it’s likely to be more energy efficient and save you some money on bills in the long run.

Air-fryer cooking: 3 Reasons Why It’s Obsessively Good

Air-frying is no longer a thing of the future. It gives you delicious food that is healthier with less fat. You’ll save lots of time in the kitchen with faster cooking and easier clean-up. It’ll also be lighter on your wallet if you shop around and use it well. What more can you ask for? That’s why air-fryer cooking is obsessively good!

Are you obsessed with air-fryer cooking? Or not convinced it’s worth a try?

My Top Five Avocado Themed Products on Amazon!

So, if you’ve read my previous post, it’s no secret that I absolutely love avocado. I love to wake up in the morning, cut an avocado in half, and then dig in. Literally. I love avocados a lot but I actually don’t own anything that is avocado shaped or print. I don’t have an avocado t-shirt, mug, belt, or purse. So, I recently went on the hunt on and found these really cool merchandise that are avocado themed or shaped or whatever. The point is, they look like avocados. How cool is that?

So, without further ado… here we go:

Coming in at number one, we have the Avocado Pool Floatie.

How awesome would it be to have a huge floatie in the shape of a green avocado. It even comes with a pool ball. The shape of this floatie is that beautiful oval shape that we associate with avocados. It’s not just a boring old rectangular floatie. No, this one has character. It has curves. It is round. It is oval. It is just beautiful.

Next on the list is a 28-ounce bottle perfect for water, soda, juice, as well as mixing up shakes and smoothies.

As a breastfeeding mom, I am constantly thirsty, And I mean, thirsty. I am constantly refueling myself with that good ol’ H20. So what better way to show my avocado-love than by using a bottle with a dancing avocado? That dancing avocado on the cup looks so cute. It is even holding its seed in such a careful, deliberate way, like a baby. Plus, I’m not a huge fan of the color green but this shade of green is easy on the eyes. And it’s the same green as the inside of the avocado. Total win for me!

The next item on my list would be have to be this adorable coffee mug:

As an online ESL teacher, I drink a cup of coffee to help me wake up in the morning. Of course, it’s more fun to drink coffee from a cute mug instead of a boring one. The handle is nice and big, perfect for holding. What I love most about this mug is that the avocados are all different shapes — some are more round, some are longer, some are shorter. Also, I like how the avocados are on a plain, white background. It’s a simple design, but it works.

This next item on the list is this adorable looking avocado bag:

As a woman, I am always looking for that perfect purse to carry my essentials, like keys, tissues, and wallet. I don’t know about you, but I like purses that aren’t too big and aren’t too small, for obvious reasons. I also like purses that have a bit of a personality, that are different and unique. This one definitely fulfills that requirement! Plus, this bag is so obviously happy. Who wouldn’t want to carry a bag that is happy? Happiness attracts more happiness.

And finally, the last thing on my list is something for the tiny people in our households:

I love avocados so why not get my little boy an avocado toy? I can pass along my love of avocado to him, literally. And he has something fun and colorful to play with. Plus this toy is cute. You can attach it to a car seat or a stroller. It is perfect for at home or on the go play.

The Five Best Reasons Why You Should Eat Avocado Everyday

I was recently asked this question by a dear friend: what is one food that you would eat everyday for the rest of your life?

It got me thinking. What would I eat? Would I eat something unhealthy like ice cream or chocolate? Or would I opt for a healthy snack like carrots or apples? Of course it would have to be a food that I really enjoy eating. I admit the first thing I thought of was chocolate.

But I’m not sure if I — or my teeth — would be able to stand eating chocolate everyday. Not the best choice. And then, I thought — avocado. Ever since I discovered this fruit, I have been buying and eating it nearly every day. I love avocado. It tastes so good and I just can’t get enough of it. I would be very much happy eating this delicious fruit everyday for the rest of my life.

Here are the five best reasons why we should eat avocado everyday:

1–It’s easy to eat & cook

My favorite way to eat avocado is probably the easiest. When the avocado ripens, I simply cut the avocado in half lengthwise. I then grab a spoon and dig in. I don’t even need a plate. I can just hold the avocado (with the skin on) in the palm of my hand and spoon the avocado out. I think some people like to season it with salt or something, but not me. I like it plain. Call me simple, but this is the only way I’ve eaten avocado. It works, I like it, so why not?

2–It tastes good

I just love the taste of avocado. It’s not as sweet as a strawberry or a honey crispy apple. The sweetness is definitely toned down, but still much more flavorful than a dragon fruit. It’s sweet and savory. It’s as soft and slippery as a banana, and yet it’s not too soft. It’s not too enough. It’s just right. It’s perfect just the way it is.

3–It’s healthy

Avocado is super healthy! Avocado has tons of potassium like a banana. Plus, it also boasts a lot of fat, good fat. It also has a ton of fiber. There’s just so much good packed into this small fruit. I guess the saying that good things come in small packages definitely holds true with avocados!

4–It’s filling

Because avocado contains a ton of fiber, it is so filling. If you are on a diet or trying to lose weight, then eat an avocado for breakfast or as a morning snack to help prevent the cravings. One single avocado gives me an even greater amount of food satisfaction than eating a slice of chocolate cake or a candy bar. Eating one whole avocado gives me a full tummy and can hold me over until the next meal so I am less likely to snack. I just love the feeling I get after eating an avocado, though I still walk away wanting more. I want all the avocados! 😉

5–It’s cute

I’m sure you’ve run across a picture or GIF of a dancing avocado. How many fruits can pull that off? It’s because avocados are just, well, cute. They can pull it off because they are green and oval shaped.

Check out this ultra-cute avocado bag.

This would be perfect to sport that avocado pride. And look how happy the avocado looks!

The Five Best Hobbies To Do While Social Distancing

Summer 2020 is an interesting summer. It is probably the most interesting summer that I’ve ever experienced during my entire life. With the Coronavirus pandemic rearing its ugly head and the new social distancing and mask requirements, many people have been forced to stay indoors as much as possible. During the summer, the norm is for people to venture outdoors to theme parks and museums. But not this summer.

That’s why I’ve compiled a list of hobbies to do during the Coronavirus pandemic to help curb the boredom. These are hobbies that anyone can do, no matter their age. These hobbies can be done at home, in the backyard, or even in a quiet park away from people.

1–Read books, e-books, audio books, newspapers, magazines

Before Covid-19, we were often too busy to read. So now, let’s step back and read something, anything, and get lost in a world that is totally different from this.

Here are some books for you to read:

2–Knit a scarf or a hat

While being safe at home, try to learn a new hobby like knitting. Order a pair of knitting needles and some yarn in your favorite colors and make a hat or scarf for the winter. Trust me, by the time we venture outside again, it will be freezing and your head or neck will thank you.

3–Make jewelry

If knitting’s not your thing, then get some beads and string and make yourself a necklace or bracelet. This would a great hobby for the entire family from the tiny toddler to your sixty year old grandmother.

4–Start a blog, a website or a YouTube channel

Are you good at making something? Do you have something you need to share with the world? Have you always wanted to start a blog, a website, or a YouTube channel but just never had the time? Well, this is the perfect time to harness that creativity and share your wisdom with the world.

5–Try some new recipes

Pre-Covid-19, we were often too busy with the hustle and bustle of work and school to cook. We often picked up a meal at a restaurant on the way home from work or school. Or perhaps we threw some stuff in the crockpot and let it do the work for us. Well, let’s take advantage of all the extra time we have and cook some delicious new cuisine.

Here are some phenomenal cookbooks:

Love With Food on Valentine’s Day

My Love With Food box for the month of February arrived today, 2/14/2015!
My Love With Food box for the month of February arrived today, 2/14/2015!

A few weeks ago, I discovered Love With Food. Okay. I can’t take all the credit. One of my SNHU friends happened to mention a package that she had received from Love With Food.

I admit, I was intrigued. The title drew me in right away. When I investigated further, I learned that it sells organic and gluten-free food. As a person who has always been health conscious and mindful about what goes into my body, this spoke volumes to me. Plus, if that wasn’t enough, for every box that Love With Food sells, the organization donates meals to food banks in America. It is a win-win solution.

This is the first box that I’ve received. I ordered one of the month-to-month tasting boxes. It looks like I got two bags of chips, a packet of cocoa mix, protein bars, candy, and seasoning. I even got some Mardi Gras beads. I love that all of the snacks are all-natural, made with no artificial flavoring and high fructose corn syrup. This box totally outdid itself this month and I’m really looking forward to the next one in March!

So, feel free to check out Love With Food! You won’t regret it, I promise.
