About the Blog
My blog, called Crispy Confessions, was founded in January 2016 shortly after the completion of a college social media course. After writing in it for about a year and a half, I took an unforeseen break. Then, in the middle of 2020, during the Coronavirus pandemic when I suddenly had more time on my hands, I took up blogging again. Since then, I have been blogging with (semi)-religious fervor, documenting my views on being a biracial, multilingual, and left handed writer and blogger. The ultimate goal for this blog, besides growth, is to bring awareness toward these topics. Only by sharing and bringing these topics to light can we ever begin to change the world.
What are some mistakes that you have made when you started blogging and have you learned from them?
I think the biggest mistake that I made when I first launched Crispy Confessions in 2016 was my failure at creating a plan. I am the type of person who likes to dive right in, guided by my imagination, instinct, and logic. I am also the type of person who avoided writing outlines on essays in high school as I considered them a waste of time. I just wanted to write and then see where it takes me. And blogging was no different. I was so excited about blogging, about writing, that I just jumped right in without any sense of direction or purpose.
In retrospect, I wish I hadn’t done that. While sometimes it is good to just jump right in as soon as inspiration strikes, it is more prudent to wait awhile and not be so reckless. I wish that I had created a 30-day or even a 12-month plan. Maybe not a plan that is super detailed, but one with a goal, and a few topic ideas. That way I would have a better sense of what I hope to accomplish with this blog, what I want my readers to get from it, and what kind of blog I want this to be.

Why did you create your blog?
I’m going to be really honest here. I created this blog for the sense of instant gratification. I wanted people to respond and comment to my blog posts. Otherwise if I didn’t want that, then why keep a blog in the first place? If I didn’t want people commenting and reading my blog, I would be better off keeping a personal ink-and-paper journal instead.
Who is your favorite singer or band?
I listen to a lot of different kinds of music, particularly rock or pop styles. I don’t really follow a particular singer or band though. Or at least, I don’t spend my time looking up their life stories or checking out their website. I just listen to the lyrics. And I’m not the best at recognizing which artist goes with which song. But some singers/bands that I like are Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift (I used to be obsessed back in my twenties), The Black Eyed Peas, The Beatles, Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and more. I just listen to whatever sounds good to me.
If you had to do one thing for the rest of your life, what would you do?
If I could do one thing without fear of failure or rejection, it would be to publish books. I say publish books simply because I am already writing. But I’m not published yet though I hope to be.
