The Questions

1. Tell us your 2021 goals for your blog.

A new year is an opportunity for a fresh start. One of my goals for 2021 is to continue to write almost every day. I find that by writing every day, I grow more confident in my writing skills. But most of all, by writing every day, it allows me to express my thoughts about the world, share my past, and ultimately connect with other like minded people.

Another of my goals is to continue to connect with people both on the blog and on social media, particularly on Twitter and Instagram (follow me if you haven’t already!) I hope to control to grow my blog and reach as many people as possible, so that I can hopefully inspire people to be the very best they can be.

I also hope to learn more about writing, blogging, and marketing. One major lesson I learned from 2020 was that blogging is a lot harder than it seems. There is still a lot that I need to learn. But every day, I try to learn a new skill to get better at this craft. And that is as much as anyone can do. Little by little, day by day, I will get better.

2. How do you plan on implementing your goals for 2021?

I think I briefly touched upon this above. For my goal of writing, I plan on accomplishing this feat by, well, writing. I plan on writing every day about social media, books, and other random things, including life as a hapa raising multiracial children. Another thing I learned from 2020 is that there is an infinite number of things to write about. There is so much to share with the world that is unique and special.

As for my goal of growing on both social media and here on the blog, I plan to do continue what I have been doing for the past few months. And the key to growing on any social media platform is to be active: post consistently and write comments on other people’s content. It may seem basic, but that really is the key to success for growth.

3. What inspires you to write your blogs?

The primary place where I find inspiration for writing my blogs is through, well, life. Sometimes I might see something, or have a conversation with someone, and I would think, I should write about that. Inspiration comes from the things around me, things that happen, and things that I hope to happen. Inspiration is everywhere. We just have to find it.

Of course, there are times when I am stuck and I can’t for the life of me think of a topic to write about. For those times, I turn to Pinterest (follow me!). I search for ‘blog post ideas,’ scroll through, and often find one that I can write about.

4. Why did you begin your blog?

Crispy Confessions was born in January 2015, nearly six years ago, right after I had completed a Social Media class at school. I had blogged before, both personally and for school, but I wanted another attempt. I wanted to try blogging using some of the social media skills I learned. Of course, I never anticipated that I would stop blogging for a couple of years. But I am glad that I re-launched my blog last year because now I am more determined than ever before to keep blogging.

5. What have you learned about yourself from writing your blogs?

This is a really good question. I think the most important thing that I learned is that I can write everyday. Whenever I asked writers for writing advice, they often said that I should write everyday. But that seemed so difficult and even impossible. I couldn’t imagine that I would be able to create blog posts everyday (at least in blogtober). So, I learned that I have the patience and determination to do just that. And if I can do something that I thought was previously impossible, then really I can do anything.

6. What would you change about your blog?

When I started blogging again, I just started writing without any sort of plan. I wish I had planned everything out more to help create more consistency. But at the same time, blogging is all about growth and self-improvement. We should see bloggers get better instead of being on point 100% of the time. It makes the blogger seem more real and authentic to see them get better at their craft. Or at least, that’s what I tell myself to make myself feel better about my lack of planning.

7. How do you feel about collaborating on your blog?

I am always open to accepting collaborations from other bloggers, as well as writing a guest post for another blogger. Click here to see two collaborations that were published on my blog. One is about the infamous air fryer, which is a total game changer for the kitchen. Another is about the benefits of having a writing community.
