My Love-Hate Relationship with Water

I can honestly say that I have a love-hate relationship with water. Some days I love water. I even crave water. I love a nice, cool glass of water with three or four ice cubes in it. I love the way that it slides down my throat. It’s the perfect drink on a hot, sweltering sunny day. It’s the perfect drink to relieve a parched throat after teaching online for hours.

But

some days I hate it. I hate that it has no taste. I hate that it’s not as delicious as a glass of OJ, milk, or even (dare I say it?) soda. Some days you want something that tastes good. Some days you want something that gives you the illusion that you are filling up your belly.

I don’t like this love-hate relationship I have with water. I want to love water with all of my being. I want to crave it more. I want to dance with it. I want to sing with it. It want it to be my It drink. You know, that one drink that comes to mind when you start craving something cold and refreshing. Some people say coffee, some people say juice, but I want to say water.

So, I am going to embark on a challenge to drink water more. I want to drink water more. I need to drink water more. So, below, I will give you two reasons why I (and you too) should drink water.

1–It’s Healthy

Water’s healthy. It helps to keep our bodies balanced. It helps us to digest food better. And then, it helps to absorb those nutrients in our bodies. It helps our kidneys function better. It helps our skin look smooth, shiny, and clear. There’s just so many health benefits that happen when you drink water.

2–It’s Hydrating

If you are thirsty or even hungry, then I suggest that you drink water. Drinking water is hydrating. Our bodies are made up of water after all. So wouldn’t it make sense to fill it with something that we have and need? If your hungry, drink water first. Sometimes being hungry is just your body’s way of telling you that it’s thirsty.

So, join me! Let’s drink water, only water, for the next week. I will make a blog post a week from today on my progress, my feelings, and my recommendations. Let me know in the comments below if you are interested in joining me on this water journey.

  1. I have been working at drinking half of my body weight in ounces since April and most days I am successful. I put a little lemon in it sometimes or sometimes I mix it up with seltzer and lemon when I feel like something bubbly. I feel the difference.
