I wake up, head to the kitchen, and then flip the switch on the kettle on. A few minutes later, I hear the water start to bubble and pop. As the water gets hotter, I get excited and impatient. I grab my favorite mug, grab a tea bag, and wait for the kettle to stop making that noise. When it goes suddenly quiet, it’s done. I carefully pour the hot water into the mug. I then slip the tea bag in the mug, carefully letting the string dangle. I carefully carry my mug of hot tea back to my desk, ready to start another work day.
There you go. I drink tea every morning. It used to not always be like this. I used to detest tea, but then suddenly, I woke up one day craving tea. It’s weird how these cravings sometimes comes and goes. But there you go.
Today, I’m going to give you the five reasons why I drink tea today.
1–It Is Warm
Sometimes I like to drink something warm. I like the feeling of a warm beverage as it slips gently down my throat and settles in my tummy. It is one of the best feelings in the world. It feels like someone is hugging me from the inside out.
I love to drink something warm when I have a cold or when it’s cold outside. Of course, living in sunny, hot, humid Florida, I can probably count on one hand the number of actual cold days during the year. Regardless of the temperature outside, it is still nice to drink something warm.
2–It Tastes Good
I usually buy the raspberry flavored Green Tea. Last time I went grocery shopping, however, I got the orange passion fruit flavored Green Tea. I like both flavors. I like that it’s not too sweet like hot chocolate. I also like that it’s not bitter like coffee. It has a subtle taste which makes it all the more appealing.
3–It Is Healthy
Drinking tea is incredibly healthy with so many benefits. For example, it contains antioxidants, the same substances that are found in berries. It also helps to keep your bones strong. It can help protect against heart disease and cancer. Hey, anything that helps to protect me and my body is a win in my book.
4–It Is Hydrating
Tea is hydrating. That means that if you are thirsty and you go to drink tea, 9 times out of ten, you won’t be thirsty anymore. If you are still thirsty, then go drink some more tea or perhaps some good old fashioned water instead.
Even though water is so healthy to drink and of course so hydrating, I like that I can drink tea in place of it sometimes. Just drinking water can get a bit boring after awhile. After all, water doesn’t have any flavor. So, it’s nice to be able to drink something with flavor to help satisfy my taste buds.
5–It Has Variety
I probably sound rather boring when I say that I haven’t tried a lot of different types of tea. But then again, I only started drinking tea just the last couple of months. Before that, my beverage of choice was soda or juice or milk or coffee, or whatever was in the fridge. It is nice, however, to have another beverage to choose from, especially one that is a lot healthier than coffee or hot chocolate and definitely more than soda and juice.
Do you drink tea? What flavors or varieties do you enjoy? Let me know in the comments below so I can try it soon (if I can find it at my local Walmart that is).
