I was recently asked this question by a dear friend: what is one food that you would eat everyday for the rest of your life?
It got me thinking. What would I eat? Would I eat something unhealthy like ice cream or chocolate? Or would I opt for a healthy snack like carrots or apples? Of course it would have to be a food that I really enjoy eating. I admit the first thing I thought of was chocolate.
But I’m not sure if I — or my teeth — would be able to stand eating chocolate everyday. Not the best choice. And then, I thought — avocado. Ever since I discovered this fruit, I have been buying and eating it nearly every day. I love avocado. It tastes so good and I just can’t get enough of it. I would be very much happy eating this delicious fruit everyday for the rest of my life.
Here are the five best reasons why we should eat avocado everyday:
1–It’s easy to eat & cook
My favorite way to eat avocado is probably the easiest. When the avocado ripens, I simply cut the avocado in half lengthwise. I then grab a spoon and dig in. I don’t even need a plate. I can just hold the avocado (with the skin on) in the palm of my hand and spoon the avocado out. I think some people like to season it with salt or something, but not me. I like it plain. Call me simple, but this is the only way I’ve eaten avocado. It works, I like it, so why not?
2–It tastes good
I just love the taste of avocado. It’s not as sweet as a strawberry or a honey crispy apple. The sweetness is definitely toned down, but still much more flavorful than a dragon fruit. It’s sweet and savory. It’s as soft and slippery as a banana, and yet it’s not too soft. It’s not too enough. It’s just right. It’s perfect just the way it is.
Avocado is super healthy! Avocado has tons of potassium like a banana. Plus, it also boasts a lot of fat, good fat. It also has a ton of fiber. There’s just so much good packed into this small fruit. I guess the saying that good things come in small packages definitely holds true with avocados!
Because avocado contains a ton of fiber, it is so filling. If you are on a diet or trying to lose weight, then eat an avocado for breakfast or as a morning snack to help prevent the cravings. One single avocado gives me an even greater amount of food satisfaction than eating a slice of chocolate cake or a candy bar. Eating one whole avocado gives me a full tummy and can hold me over until the next meal so I am less likely to snack. I just love the feeling I get after eating an avocado, though I still walk away wanting more. I want all the avocados! 😉
